North Torrance Little League (NTLL) is a chartered league governed by the published rules and regulations of Little League Baseball Incorporated. As such, NTLL operates under the guiding principle of developing Character, Courage, and Loyalty.
The 50/70 (Intermediate) Division of baseball utilizes a modified baseball field using a 50-foot pitching distance and 70-foot base paths. This division is structured for league age 11-13 year olds. Most competitive travel ball programs as well as
Little League competitors such as Babe Ruth (Cal Ripken) offer opportunities to play on a 50/70 size field.
Objectives of 50/70 Baseball
Provide an opportunity for players to transition incrementally from a 46/60 field to a full size 60/90 baseball field.
Provide an opportunity for local leagues to offer a more competitive level of baseball during the regular season for advanced players.
Allows Little League to adapt with the changing environment of youth baseball.
Conditions of 50/70 Baseball
50 foot pitching distance from pitching rubber to home plate.
70 foot running distance between all bases.
Lead offs and pick offs allowed.
Balks and dropped 3rd strikes are in effect.
Pitch count will be based on league age.
The maximum diameter of bats in 50/70 games cannot exceed 2 & 5/8 inches. 2 & 1/4 composite bats are not permitted to be used in 50/70 games. In summary, approved big barrel bats are allowed.
