NTLL: Celebrating 55 Years of Baseball In 2010, North Torrance Little League celebrates our 55th year of helping our youth develop character, courage, and loyalty through baseball. Our Little League Charter dates to the 1959 season, but our league was established in 1956 (or prior). NTLL was one officially chartered Little League from our founding through 1958, but as the league grew, the league was re-chartered as NTLL East and NTLL West in 1959. When the school age population of north Torrance began to decline, NTLL was combined back into one league. Since our beginning, NTLL has been a true grassroots organization, run by volunteers interested in making a difference in the lives of our youth. Over the past 50+ years, thousands of north Torrance youth have spent time on the fields of NTLL, playing baseball, having fun, and learning life lessons. As we look forward to our next 50+ years, we are also looking to document some of the lost history of NTLL. If you have some historical details about NTLL or you know someone who does, please send the details to the NTLL webmaster. We're looking for any facts you have about NTLL, but specifically, we're looking for info on the exact year the league was started, old field locations, the date NTLL East & West merged (1982?1984?), old team photos, etc. If you have any old photos you would like to share on this website, please scan them and send them to the webmaster. More NTLL History - According to Little League International, NTLL was chartered in 1959.
However, a former NTLL player from 1956-1957, Bruce Campbell, has e-mailed
a photo of his NTLL trophy and Little League certificate from 1957.
Bruce remembers only 1 NTLL during his playing years, not separate NTLL
East & NTLL West leagues. So, when NTLL was split into two leagues
in 1959, the leagues were probably re-chartered. - Alumni Leon Smith, Jr was a bat boy for the league in 1956 and a
player from 1957 through 1962. Leon played for NTLL at Dominguez
Field (190th St & Beryl) and for NTLL East at Garrett Field (190th St &
Van Ness). Leon sent copies of the NTLL programs from 1957, 1958, and
1959. - Visit the NTLL Alumni Page - Check out some old NTLL photos - NTLL History Timeline & Field Map - NTLL District 27 Championships:
